Looking For Some Free Activities To Do With Your Scouts?
A very generous district volunteer has compiled a list of free days at area-wide attractions for your unit to take advantage, should you choose to do so. This list may come in handy as you plan your winter and spring outings. Please note that it is the individual unit’s responsibility to call each location to confirm its free offers and find out additional information. Enjoy!

A PowerPoint presentation is now available for you to utilize at your join night. Not only that, but below each slide on the presentation, a script is included. You are encouraged to personalize the slide show with pictures of your pack. If you have access to a projector, great! If not, you can still print the slides and notes to use as talking points in your presentation.
Journey To Excellence
Journey to Excellence is the new performance recognition program for Councils, Districts, and Units. This new program uses a balanced approach and key performance indicators to measure performance versus process, encourage and reward success, and achieve the mission.
To see the requirements of this program, click on one of the following: Pack, Troop, Crew, Team, and District.
This process is replacing the Quality Unit program for 2011 and is intended to improve the quality of the programs we provide to our Scouts. For more information about this program or for any questions, please contact your commissioner.
Unit Leaders - New Web Feature To Attract Potential Scouts To Your Unit
BSA has developed a new web feature called "Be A Scout". It uses Google Maps to help parents of potential new Cubs, Boy Scouts, Venture, and Explorer members to find your unit. With this feature, a parent or potential Scout enters their address and it shows the units near them and information about those units.
To make this work, you need to enter the information about your unit that you wish to present. You may enter special information about your unit, meeting times and address, leader's names, phone numbers, addresses, and e-mail addresses, and other information you wish to show potential new members. You only need to present the information you wish to. Only unit leaders (Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, Crew Advisors, Chartered Organization Rep, or Committee Chairman) may enter the information for your unit. Make your unit's information special to attract new Scouts.
See instructions to manage your unit's information. For any questions or technical concerns with this feature, contact the National Service Help Desk at 972.580.2267.
